Julia Alber
Julia_AlberJulia Alber is originally for Logan, Utah, but spent most of her life in Illinois. Ms. Alber is currently a candidate for the Masters of Public Health in Community Health Education degree at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She received a Bachelors of Science in Community Health from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is also a certified Health and Wellness Coach. Julia currently works on campus for the employee wellness program, HealthyUNCG, where she serves as the Personal Wellness Profile Coordinator. She has also worked as a Graduate Assistant for Office of Academic Outreach, an online degree completion program. Additionally, she has experience working in a public health department where she provided health education to local schools and organizations. Ms. Alber’s research focuses on developing and implementing worksite wellness programs and investigating how social and environmental factors affect obesity. Ms. Alber will be pursuing a doctoral degree in the fall of 2012.

Kathleen Coatta
Kathleen-CoattaKathleen Coatta, Director of Fiscal Management, F.I.T. Camp – Kathleen Coatta is currently pursuing her master’s degree in social work at California State University, Los Angeles. She has several years of experience as a grant writer and fundraiser with Catholic Charities of Los Angeles where she helped secure program funding through foundations, corporations, and government entities. Previously, Kathleen worked as a public relations representative for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and a graphic design account executive. Last year, Kathleen served as a therapist intern at All Peoples Christian Center in South Central Los Angeles, where she learned first hand about the needs and aspirations of minority, disenfranchised youth.  Currently, Kathleen interns at Partners in Care Foundation providing evidence-based health education and supportive services to older adults and family caregivers. Kathleen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from the University of Michigan.

Scott Ellis
Scott-EllisScott Ellis is a health promoter based in London specialising in HIV prevention work with MSM and sex education with young people. Recently he has also begun advocacy work with community-based elderly care programmes in Westminster to improve the standard of service received by at-risk individuals. Scott is an experienced trainer in these areas and has recently developed a ‘newly diagnosed’ programme for the National Health Service to be delivered to MSM recently diagnosed with HIV to better assist them in handling the diagnosis across all aspects of their life. In June 2012 he will graduate from the University of East London, where he is also a Guest Lecturer in Sexual Health, with a BSc (Hons) Health Promotion. Currently working on an oral history research project to better understand the sexual risk-tasking patterns of MSM, he is looking to begin his PhD in a similar area in autumn 2012. He has a keen interest in developing international links within the HIV sector and has previously worked with colleagues in Romania, France the USA and Canada to develop HIV practice and understanding. Scott is delighted to be taking part in the 2012 Health and Wellness Conference and looks forward to the interesting discussions and presentations that will be taking place.

Aiko Enoki
Enoki_photoAiko Enoki is a Master of Social Work student with an emphasis in aging and families at the California State University, Los Angeles. She received her B.A. from the University of California, Davis in Sociology with a minor in Community and Regional Development. Her thesis examines caregiver support services and their effectiveness in deterring premature institutionalization among individuals with Alzheimer’s disease. She is currently working with Dr. Raquel Warley in the development of the nonprofit organization, F.I.T. Camp. Recognizing the interconnectedness of psychosocial and physical health, F.I.T. strives to promote the overall wellbeing of underprivileged Los Angeles County youth through a summer camp program that integrates nutrition education, physical fitness, and social work interventions.

Adeleh Nejati
ANejatiPhotoAdeleh Nejati received her Bachelor degree in Architecture from National University of Iran in 2008. She experienced the cooperative working environments in a wide range of professional firms while studying Architecture. In August 2008, she started her Master studies in Architecture at Miami University, OH, and she completed her Master’s thesis on stress-related issues in Spirituality, Health and Architecture, and designed a multifunctional Urban Healing Oasis in Cincinnati, OH in 2010. Currently, Ms. Nejati is a Ph.D. candidate at the Center for Health Systems & Design at Texas A&M University. Her research is overall focused on design for quality of life and healing environments, and currently emphasizes design-related issues relevant to aging.
